About Women Who Design the West
Women Who Design the West premiered in Cody September 2010 as a special exhibition at Style West with Thea Marx.
Women Who Design the West is an exclusive exhibition featuring women who design and create western craft. The exhibition will also feature a keynote speaker each day who will address design, marketing and business issues. Presenters are: Pam Fields, CEO, Stetson Worldwide, Hilary Heminway, internationally known interior designer and Cheryl McMullen, Founder and Designer, Double D Ranchwear.
Each woman selected for the show is considered to be a master at her craft or a rising star. “I feel it is integral to introduce the public to these profoundly talented women, some of whom work in male dominated sectors and others who are keeping dying arts alive. Each exhibitor has a talent that is extraordinary and they should be recognized,” says Thea Marx, exhibition founder.
Stetson has endorsed Women Who Design the West and will be inducting each craftswoman into the Stetson Craftsman’s Alliance. The mission of this alliance is to recognize and honor excellence across western craft disciplines. “Having Stetson endorse the show is a major leg up for each exhibitor, it is the number one brand in America. The name itself speaks volumes,” notes Marx, who has worked with Stetson for several years on the project.
